En esta ocasión quise realizar un retrato alterado, haciendo alusión al género fantástico, imitando las posturas asumidas por la pintura neoclásica, que buscaba añadir en sus retratados atributos de dioses romanos, así como distintas criaturas que moraban en su mitología.

On this occasion I wanted to make an altered portrait, referring to the fantastic genre, imitating the positions assumed by the neoclassical painting, which sought to add in its portraits attributes of Roman gods, as well as different creatures that lived in its mythology.

1.

• Para iniciar esta pintura digital comencé por esbozar con el lápiz 2B disponible en el menú desplegable de pinceles, dentro de la categoría sketch, con un color terracota, pues me recuerda al efecto de la sanguina, además de que genera una sensación cálida.
• To start this digital painting I began to sketch with the 2B pencil available in the drop-down menu of brushes, within the sketch category, with a terracotta color, because it reminds me of the effect of sanguine, as well as generating a warm feeling.

• Seguidamente, en una capa nueva, con el pincel "quick circle big "pinté los colores propios de cada elemento presente, de un modo más bien plano.
• Next, in a new layer, with the brush "quick circle big" I painted the colors of each present element, in a rather flat way.

• Haciendo uso del pincel "basic wet" (disponible en el menú desplegable de pinceles, en la categoría wet) inicié a ubicar los tonos más bajos (oscuros) del retrato con color azul, en vista de que el mismo se encuentra presente en todas las sombras de la naturaleza.
• Using the "basic wet" brush (available in the drop-down menu of brushes, in the wet category) I started to locate the lower (dark) tones of the portrait with blue color, since it is present in all the shadows of nature.

• Una vez finalizado el paso anterior, proseguí a pintar sobre el azul, el color propio de cada elemento, sin embargo en tono más bajo aún. Además de ello bajé la opacidad del boceto.
• Once the previous step was finished, I continued to paint over the blue, the own color of each element, however in still lower tone. In addition to that I lowered the opacity of the sketch.

• Y ahora comienza la parte divertida: los matices de color de la piel. En la imagen se aprecian los colores que he empleado con el pincel "basic wet", entre los que destacan el púrpura en el área ocular, así como diversos naranjas y marrones en tono muy alto (mezclados con blanco o amarillo). Para los labios opté por un rosa pálido mezclado con un marrón de tendencia rojiza. Cabe destacar que en este punto la opacidad del boceto se encontraba en 40%
• And now the fun part begins: the nuances of skin color. In the image we can see the colors that I have used with the "basic wet" brush, among which the purple in the ocular area, as well as several oranges and browns in a very high tone (mixed with white or yellow). For the lips I opted for a pale pink mixed with a reddish brown. It should be noted that at this point the opacity of the sketch was at 40%

• El siguiente paso consistió en duplicar la capa actual, y utilizar la de abajo para esparcir ciertas áreas con el pincel "smudge texture" (disponible en el menú desplegable de pinceles en la categoría smudge), con el fin de crear un efecto de pincel seco al óleo.
• The next step was to duplicate the current layer, and use the bottom layer to spread certain areas with the brush "smudge texture" (available in the drop-down menu of brushes in the smudge category), in order to create a brush effect dry oil.

• Con el pincel basic wet, me dispuse a generar más contraste tonal, y por consiguiente, más volumen. Así pues baje más los tonos oscuros, y subí más los tonos altos. Asimismo, añadí ciertas luces azules altas (claras), en vista de que este es el color complementario del anaranjado, color de la piel del retratado. Siguiendo esta misma lógica, las luces de sus labios las pinté de un verde cálido, pues es el color análogo del rojo/rosa.
• With the basic wet brush, I set out to generate more tonal contrast, and therefore, more volume. So lower the dark tones more, and I raised the high tones more. Also, I added certain high blue lights, since this is the complementary color of the orange, color of the skin of the person portrayed. Following this same logic, I painted the lights of your lips a warm green, because it is the analogous color to red / pink.

• Llegados a este punto, decidí resaltar algunas zonas, como también rectificar el dibujo, valiéndome de un color rojizo, así como un púrpura.
• At this point, I decided to highlight some areas, as well as rectify the drawing, using a reddish color, as well as a purple.

• Habiendo finalizado el paso anterior, me centré en la cota de malla del retratado, generando pinceladas cortas, utilizando tonos altos, así como tonos bajos, intentando imitar la textura del metal, sin caer en minuciosidades.
• Having finished the previous step, I focused on the mesh of the portrayed, generating short brushstrokes, using high tones, as well as low tones, trying to imitate the texture of the metal, without falling into meticulousness.

• Asimismo, añadí luces con tendencia al ocre en el cabello.
• In the same way, I added lights with a tendency to ocher in the hair.

• Otros pequeños detalles, como el lunar del elfo y unas gemas sobresalientes.
• Other small details, such as the elf's mole and some outstanding gems.

• Finalmente añadí con "basic wet", en una capa distinta, un fondo azul con tendencia verdosa con el fin de realzar los naranjas y rosas de la piel.
• Finally I added with "basic wet", in a different layer, a blue background with greenish tendency in order to highlight the oranges and roses of the skin.

• Realmente me divertí mucho con este retrato, pues intenté hacerlo con una apariencia de óleo, y ciertamente creo que lo conseguí. Además de que fue bastante agradable convertir en un elfo guerrero a alguien.

• I really had a lot of fun with this portrait, because I tried to do it with an oil look, and I certainly think I did it. Besides, it was nice enough to turn someone into a warrior elf.
