Setting Up A Greenhouse Heat Sink
I'm getting ready to get the barrels in position for the greenhouse heat sink but I'm not 100% sure of a couple things. Are they more effective if they are all touching? How far off the ground should they be to not transfer heat to the the ground? I can't wait to get this project started and to see the effects it will have on the greenhouse, just got to make sure were setting them up right.

Great info! I want to learn more about thermal mass. I plan to move to the high desert (California), build a greenhouse, and have straw bale plantings along with the same idea you are using: black plastic barrels to act as thermal mass for temperature moderation.
