The Marine Memoirs - Day 012
Day 12
2009-5-07
Today started out badly, but as the day progressed; it actually worked out in my favor. The Marine on fire watch didn’t wake me up properly, so I didn’t have the space or time required to properly prepare for my day. Today was rifle calibration day, and I’ll most likely be getting all dirty and disgusting in no time at all. So even if the Marine on fire watch did properly rouse me from my slumber to take a shower, my cleanliness most likely wouldn’t have lasted for very long… which it didn’t by the way. It literally took twenty minutes for the Marines to setup targets, because the stapler they were utilizing was a piece of shit! It didn’t help that the targets kept toppling over constantly either. We were only required to shoot for a short period of time, which kind of defeated the purpose of calibrating our weapons. This is the life I live… but not for long. The Sir and I are the only leaders who work together as one. We don’t segregate our Marines, like so many seem to do. We aren’t going to be operating as a traditional security team. As far as training is concerned, I don’t believe in a one person role. If one person is an expert at a particular skill, I require everyone to be just as proficient as him or her. Everyone within a team should possess the same amount of knowledge, and should progress and strive to perfect each and every skill in existence.
I’ve decided to crowd source the ever irksome task of editing and proofreading my book with you guys and gals, so please feel free to make any corrections or suggestions you’d like.
