Let’s stop environmental and farmland pollution to increase crop yields.

Plastic pollution refers to the abusive or indiscriminate littering of all forms of plastics waste on the environment as well as nearby farmlands. This usually common with farms around cities or abandoned homes or undeveloped areas. These plastics include, bottles, nylon pappers, broken or discarded rubber buckets, shoes etc. Pollution is thus a widespread problem affecting the world as a whole.

There are varying forms of pollution and include, water, air, land or soil with each having a negative impact on crop production. These plastics however been buried in the soil do not easily get decomposed as such can remain in the soil for a period of about 400 years or more. Crops planted in these farmlands usually experience, poor germination, poor root penetration, low nutrient uptake, water percolation, poor crop development and finally low yields.

Also, acid rain which is a combination of oxides in the atmosphere do fall back on crops causing lesion on their leaves and also destroying soils. As a result, the plants will not be able photosynthesize , thus causing stuntedness, as well as chlorosis leading low crop yields as shown in the picture above. These plastics tends to make our surrounding environment nasty and equally as breeding ground for disease causal agents like mosquitos, rodents etc.
Further, when water is polluted with chemicals, and plants take up the water, crop malfunctioning occurs leading to low crop yields and eventual health problems especially to the animals that do feed on these plants or its components. These plastics can either be recycled by producing companies or discarded in a sustainable way.
Therefore, it is of extreme importance to note that everything in nature is interconnected and pollution of any sought can damage plant life and consequently cause harm unto the environment. So, once a plant has been weakened, it makes them more susceptible to disease and insect infestation as well as affecting the animals that depend on this these foods. Moreover, we need to strive together in order to prevent pollution of all sought so as to clean up our planet as much as we can.

plastic pollution indeed is a great to threat to humanity but with collective action we can make a change.
