We´re Gonna Be Legends - A Post For Steemit NewbiessteemCreated with Sketch.

'A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles. - Tim Cahill

It´s rather determined by the people and their stories you come to know, since every person you will ever meet in life knows something you don´t.

Honestly, isn´t the social aspect the most exciting, fulfilling and valuable part of all experiences?

Aren´t mutual engagement and support, knowledge transfer and inspiration, integrity, loyalty and trust the core benefits of any project, plan or vision?

If you are new to steemit and need some orientation, here is one possible way to go.

Be Legendary

A couple of weeks ago I´ve started to focus my curating activity on newcomers.

First of all, I´ve been amazed by the creativity and power a lot of them already transmitted in their introduction posts. Most of them already know what they gonna blog about on steemit, thus they´ve already defined their niche right from the start.

To the ones who don´t know how to begin, here is one ultimate advice: Be yourself.

Authenticity is one of the most appreciated social skills. That one can´t be done by bots.

Besides your unique profile there is one more essential requirement on your way to become a successful blogger: HARD WORK.

6 steps how to improve your blogging success on steemit:

  1. Study successful content an their authors (visit the trending page) and learn from them.
  2. Find your niche. Provide something others don´t. Be unique. Be legendary.
  3. Create content others can´t skip. Steve Jobs: 'Be so good they can´t ignore you.'
  4. Be social. Engange, connect, upvote, comment, reblog, discuss, ask and reply.
  5. Be curious and willing to improve. You´ll learn from failure not from success.
  6. WRITE, READ, CURATE, EAT, SLEEP, REPEAT.

PS: The most important one of all is no. 3 :) Why? Because:

Everybody wants to be somebody

In a world where youtubers, bloggers and snapchatters are recognized professional categories, everybody can become somebody over night.

However, a widespread misunderstanding in that context is that spotlight is not preceded by hard work. Many people believe that once they have opened a YouTube channel they´re going to be famous, that once they have signed up to steemit they are going to earn a lot of money.

Money follows passion.

If you wanna know how true passion sounds and looks like, than I highly recommend you to watch this video. There you can look into the burning eyes of Steemit Inc´s new Marketing VP @zurvanic (Mitchell) and the new Community Liaison @andrarchy (Andrew).

To be honest, I think I fall in love a little bit with anyone who shows true enthusiasm for something. I adore sportsmen for their uncompromising will to win, I admire aid agents for their unstoppable desire to help, I generally fall for people that are on fire.

Your initial success on steemit is rather measured by your social bonds than by your wallet. Money follows excellence.

One of the advantages the platform provides is its independency from any centralized institution or regulation. There are not limits to excellence.

Whatever the niche might be you are willing to occupy, there won´t be any censorship impeding your creativity. That´s why I highly recommend you to be adventurous. You´ve got nothing to lose. If plan A doesn´t work then B or C might do.

The only existing framework on steemit is your own capacity.
Max it out!

While I´ve been writing this blot post, I just hit the 600 followers mark. You guys have no idea how grateful I am for your continuous support, our valuable conversations and the shared FUN! Thank you so much!!!

Thanks for your time and attention, I hope you enjoyed the read and found it somehow inspiring. To come full circle, I´ll leave you with one of my favourite songs called 'Legendary'.

Marly -

Welshy Arms - 'Legendary'

Cause we´re gonna be legends
Gonna get their attention
What we´re doing here ain´t just scary
It´s about to be legendary

Been dreaming of the payoff
Through the struggles and the trade-offs
Write in truth heading on the way up
Tell them the truth but they think it´s just made up

Very inspiring. I like it.
The cool thing is it seems to be a rather level playing field. It is hard to break into YouTube because the algorithm favors the large entrenched channels. Its not like that here as far as I can tell.

You can definitely break even here or at least feel like it. You can even talk to the people at the top or have them talk to you.

Yeah that is very cool. I try to respond to all my YouTube comments, but it is hard. That is one of the tradeoffs I suppose when Steemit takes off someday.

Now is a nice time to be on steemit and to get to do a lot of things and get to know as many steemians while it still all feels small. Now, before steemit takes off!

Sure, right now it´s all familiar and you can easily manage your content and reactions.
However, the 7-day-payout will change that already a bit. If you post let´s say one article per day you´ll have 7 running at the same time.
Just considering this article and the other one I published yesterday, I´ve been around 2 hours reading comments and replying to them. That´s hard work if you really engange with people and their beliefs and if you want to give them something back.
I´ll have a break now, go surfing and free my mind :)
Happy Sunday!

Thank you @old-guy-photos! Well just thinking about the barriers to entry, steemit has a lot of advantages. Here you can just start and produce a trending article with a huge payout at the very first day (it has happened several times). On other platforms you need to build the reputation first.

We're in the very early days here, and I can tell you that YouTube was just like this in the very early days, as far as community. Most everyone on YT knew most everyone else, and the stars would converse with the everyday video uploaders. That's why I am enjoying this time, because Steemit will take off, and it will be a different place, if it follows what happened at YT. Still Great, but in a different way with a different feel.

That´s surely why most of us are here: we know that this is going to become something really great - and then we´ll all gonna be part of it, right from the start :)
Thanks, Kenny!

Yeah I missed the early days. I have only been on YT for 5 years, but hear a lot of the old-timers talk about how much better it was in the early days.
Even though Im fairly new, I do think it is really cool here now!

Great article!

Looking at number 2, I think my niche is described in number 4! Just like over at YouTubeStars.com I am a commenter, socializer and promoter more than a content creator. I don't know if I am legendary at YouTube or here but its a worthy goal to strive for!

That legend thing was surely a bit over the top :) But aims have to be like that: feet on the ground and head in the clouds :) Like that we evolve.
Thanks, Kenny! I truly appreciate your support.
Enjoy your Sunday!

You are amazing inspiration to so many people.
As for me - I think perhaps I'm a legend in my own mind. LOL Hey, it works. :P
I've been "trolling" the new tab and so happy to see new people signing up every day! They need our support because I want to see us all hit whale country!

Thank you so much, @merej99! It means much to hear that from you :)
Being legendary was kind of a symbol, and you totally got it: it´s a self-motivation tool.
I´ve been around the introduction section, too. There are amazing new people joining us, it´s truly exciting!!! I fully agree with you.
Enjoy your week, legend! :D

It´s funny how much value $0.10 are becoming suddenly! :)

Every social network is the same in this respect. You get out of it what you put into it. If everyone spent 1 hour per day writing a quick blog, commenting and upvoting this place would be on fire and we would quickly be a sub 1,000 site on Alexa.

I couldn´t agree more, Randy. It´s give and take, like in any other relationship :)
Thanks for your wise words and support!

You nailed it Marly!
Hanging 10 through the tube!!
LOL - (attempt at sounding kinda surfer-like)

LOL - oh I wish I could to these tube rides, but this is still another level :)
Thank you @paradise-found!!!
Will go surfing now btw :)
