I think that's probably the single most useful thing that any of us can do to increase steem's long-term value, because that's the one that directly attracts the outside investor. "word of mouth" has always been one of the best weapons for a successful business.
But I disagree with this:

IMO, Cooperation and competition are both necessary for a thriving social system. Like it or not, competition improves the quality of collaboration. It's not either/or, it's deciding when to do which.

You are right - competition is key. Maybe in the current situation of the platform it just doesn´t need to be the main purpose. It´s more important to mutually push us instead of strive for individual success.
