THE DIARY GAME :03/08/2020 : -HIGHER SELF-MeguruYamaguchi Exhibition of Modern ART 山口 歴 展覧会@西武渋谷店:Team @japansteemit

#thediarygame 3日目の今日は、東京、渋谷の西武渋谷店 A館7階 特設会場で開催されている、現代アーティストの山口歴（やまぐち・めぐる）氏の展覧会に足を運んできました。

As #thediarygame on the third day, I have just returned from the exhibition " #HIGHERSELF "of contemporary artist #MeguruYamaguchi , which is being held at the special venue on the 7th floor of Building A, Seibu Shibuya Store, #Shibuya , #Tokyo（until August 10th.）.

コラボ作品も多く手掛けているアーティストなので、作品をご覧になっている方も多いと思いますが、山口氏は1984年生まれ、東京・渋谷区出身で、23歳で渡米した若手アーティスト。

Mr. Yamaguchi was born in 1984 in Shibuya, Tokyo, and is a young artist who moved to the United States at the age of 23. You may be looking at his work as he is also an artist who works on many collaborations with companies.

ビビッドな色使いと、ヒップホップのサンプリングから着想を得たといわれている、多色の絵具の筆跡を貼り合わせる「カット&ペースト」という独自の手法が作品の特徴です。

His work is characterized by a unique technique called "cut and paste," which combines the handwriting of multicolored paints, which is inspired by vivid colors and hip-hop sampling.

とても本質的に絵画を捉え、絵画の根源的な要素である絵筆の動き（筆致）そのものを、鮮やかな色とダイナミックな構図で表現しています。

He seems to capture painting very essentially. The movement of the paintbrush, which is the fundamental element of the painting, is expressed in vivid colors and dynamic composition.

会場では、絵具をのせた筆遣いをそのままカット・コラージュしたアート作品といった最新作が鑑賞できます。

すべての作品が、作家が制作時に放ったエネルギーを内包しているように感じられ、こちらにもそれが伝わってきました。

ちなみに、展覧会タイトルの #HIGHERSELFとは、直訳すれば高次元の自分ということですが、精神世界の本では、潜在意識が解放された状態といった、さまざまな深い意味も持つこともあります。展覧会タイトルそのものにも惹きつけられました。

既述のように、山口氏はまた、ナイキ、アウディ、イッセイ ミヤケ メン、ユニクロなどからのオファーによるコラボレーションを多数手掛けているアーティストであり、企業とのコラボレーションプロダクトの展示も。

展覧会は無料で、しかも、写真撮影も自由というおおらかさで、存分に楽しむことができました。

会場となった西武百貨店には、昔からアーティストを応援する企業文化があるように思います。

I think that the venue, #SeibuDepartmentStore , has a corporate culture that supports artists more than before.

コロナ禍で、有名美術館が次々に閉館となり、外出自粛には難なく対応できたものの、美術館に行かれないことが、意外なストレスになることに気づきました。

This spring, famous museums were closed one after another due to the spread of covid-19. Although I was able to deal with self-isolation without difficulty, I realized that not being able to go to the museum would be an unexpected stress.

個人的に、デパートは文化の担い手であってほしいと思っています。実際、いろいろなデパートは、小さな展覧会や、アーティスト支援を行っています。
こんなふうにアートと出逢えるのは、生活を豊かにしてくれる素晴らしい機会であり、感謝しています。

I hope department stores to be cultural leaders. In fact, many department stores hold small exhibitions and support artists.
