Thanks! I thought that it was pumpernickel. There's a lot of varieties apparently & they all use rye If I recall correctly.....so technically I guess you could call this rye bread instead & that would satisfy?
Well, you can say that, I guess. But there are so many types of bread, its hard to tell just from the look. Pumpernickel is different though, its a solid block of grains with no air in it, and its nearly black. Tastes good with smoked ham, or cottage cheese and strong cheese.
Definitely one of my favorites!
