Rumors have been swirling for awhile, but according to Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs will be setting up a cryptocurrency trading desk by the end of June 2018. Bloomberg cites unnamed sources from inside the firm. At present, the investment bank is trying to determine how it will maintain custody of the digital assets. Goldman Sach’s The investment bank is seen as one of the most elite on Wall Street.
The Goldman Sachs to become the first large Wall Street firm to make markets in cryptocurrencies, whose wild price swings and surging values have captured the public’s imagination but given pause to established institutions. Already, the bank is among just a few mainstream firms clearing a new breed of bitcoin futures offered by Cboe Global Markets Inc. and CME Group Inc. Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp., for example, have been taking a wait-and-see approach.
While I am optimistic on ETH prices going forward as I feel they will continue to be the main ICO platform after regulation is clarified, a $15k price would imply an almost $2 trillion market cap for ETH while a $20k price for BTC would put it only above $300 billion. That will not make sense at all as to magnitude of that change.
