You're right about bettas, they are very hard to maintain, the water temperature has to be just right, another fish causes them stress and even the water flow has to be smooth for them to swim comfortably but they're really beautiful and that's worth it.
I've usually had great luck keeping bettas, and have had some for years, but this tank just seems to be a black hole for a lot of fish . . . and yet the ghost shrimp continue to thrive. Go figure.
