Exploring Nectar, Alabama

in #thealliance6 years ago (edited)

There's a place in Northern Alabama I've been visiting since I was a 10 year old boy. This place is very special to me and a dozen close friends who've been trekking together out to the "magic waterfall" since high school. We've noticed that it's always during a major transition of life that we find ourselves making the pilgrimage to the clear beauty of the falls at "Mag Hole."

The waterfall is located on little Scarum Creek which is a small creek that connects to the Locust Fork River.

Yesterday, my pal Jonathon and I went to harvest some bamboo for an installation art project I'm working on. We brought a circle saw to cut down the 30+ trees and we used chisels to sheer of the smaller branches.

Walking to the falls is always just as beautiful as the first time. Green moss, high dripping bluffs, rushing water, colorful rock formations, and incredible flowers surround our walk.

We harvested about 30 beautiful 12 ft pieces of Bamboo and strapped it to the car.

I didn't know Bamboo was so delicious. Maybe I was just hungry from hiking around and hauling trees all day.
