Greetings Dear Steemit Team, Steemit Curators and all Steemians. It has been so wonderful Challenge joining this #the100daysofsteem. Everyday, the challenge keep increasing becoming interesting. Today's challenge feel lovely to share with our great people in Steem here: "The Biggest Event of the Year."

In Ghana here, there has been many major events that have been taken place annually at the National level down to the District level. To select one became very difficult for me, because we just celebrated the biggest one in 6th March 2020, that's Ghana's Independent Day's Celebration. But that one is common to everybody, and aside that I have captured it here is Steem, so it will be like repeation of information which will be boring to read by my funs here. I know well that it fit well in today's challenge, but I wanted to update my Steemians with new information. There is one major annual event which took place just 6 months ago, and it has been taken place every year, that's "Ghana's Farmers Day Celebration" which has taken place in First Friday of December in every year.

This is one of colorful and interesting event celebrated every year. This is the great day set aside to reward Ghanaian farmers for their great effort of producing abundance foodstuff, vegetables, animals and anything that is edible for us all year round. During this day, farmers from all walks of various Districts, Municipals and Nationals are welcomed with their items. The Minister of Food and Agriculture and his team lacing with the District Chief Executives at the District levels go round the various farmers farm to observe the best from the millions of farmers around. Every District organises its own farmer's day on the same day, where food of all kinds are exhibited to encourage the youth to also love the agricultural work.

At the National level, a lot of farmers present themselves there with their food items, there you will find cassava, yam, plantain, cocoyam, banana, sweet potato, onion, ginger, pepper, okro, tomato, garden egges, cabbages, carrots, cacumber, beans, maize, rice, cow, fowl, pig, sheep, goat, fish and a lot of varieties of food items that you can think of of. After colorfully exhibited for the audience view, the President and his entourage goes round to observe these attractive food items, all the protocol observers and everybody who wish to observe also go round to observe. The President, with the help of Minister of Food and Agriculture announces the winner and the first runner up of the Annual Farmer's Day Celebration. Money and some well pleasing items are presented to them for their effort to win the year Farmer's Day. Some could even win a tractor plus a sum of money, others too could winner car and lots of presentable items.

My District, Sekyere Central- Nsuta in Ashanti Region also had opportunity to celebrate ours at one village known as "Kyekyebon." It was very interesting to see the farmers there. As the matter of fact, organising such occasion in a village like this will receive a massive turn out, since it will be one of it kind. A lot of farmers came and fill the village square for the occasion. I could go and observe this memorable occation but one of my friend who is Assemblyman was able to go with the District Chief Executive, narrated the whole story of the occasion. They set the target of even helping the farmers to accomplish their visions, which is cashew plantation which is now gaining ground in the community. The District Chief executive, Mr. Banahene presents over 500 cashew seedlings to the farmers to quick start this vision.

During Farmer's day there are a lot of promises from Government, District Chief Executives and the Minister of Food and Agricultures and his Deputy. One area that is keen to the Government and always give more attention is one of cash crops which give us foreign earnings is "our Cocoa- Theobroma cacao." In this August day all cocoa Farmers were promised to hold unto their breath, since there are much incentives underway. Government promised them to increase the prices of their produce by some appreciable percentage to keep them motivated. Already, Government has subsidized some of the cost they incur, such as bringing cocoa mass spraying activities, where people have been employed to spray their cocoa for free. I also remember the initiatives Government has instituted by providing the farmers with free fertilizers to boost their annual yield of produce.

Others Farmers are also not left out from the national cake, Government to increase production of foodstuffs, he has again brought a very good policy which is helping and ordinary peasant farmers, that's "planting for food and jobs." In this policy, seeds like maizes, beans, okro, millet, sorghum and other insecticides are provided to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to distribute to all the various farmers in the District to be able to get more produce from their farms. Farmers in the old days farming suffer in making their farms neat. They farm with all their energy to, but small produce that they get. Look at the women with their babies clinging on their backs weeding the whole day. Now, this initiative is helping every farmer to reduce the stress in their farms.
