6/11/2020 Entry to the Steemit Diary Game - Recording and Roleplaying

in #the100daysofsteem4 years ago

Hello everyone! Yesterday was a great day, and a lot happened! I am going to discuss it all here for the next entry in my Steem Diary!

My Life

Yesterday I woke up around 10am. I was a little surprised because I went to bed fairly early the night before, but for whatever reason, I slept in a little. The first thing I did was shower. After showering, I wrote the diary entry for the previous day.

Around 11am, I went on Steem a little I think. I then played bed wars until noon. I felt really good about myself because someone reported me for hacking, so the game tested to see if I was. That means that I am getting better. I also had someone compliment me in the chat. That was nice.

At noon, I participated in a call for character building for the roleplaying game we are doing in my friend group called "Call of Cthulhu". Though I had already built my character, I wanted to learn about the other character options, and develop a better overall understanding of the game. At around 1:15pm, I left the call to pack up my keyboard to go over to @esouthern3's house. I ate lunch, and then left.

Despite trying to leave at the latest possible time, I was still going to be like 15 minutes early, so I drove the long way, and was only 5 minutes early. I stayed in my car until 2pm.

We spent about two hours making our recording for Music for Steem. I am happy to say that I think we both enjoyed it a lot, and we intend to participate again!

@esouthern3 also gave me another very meaningful gift. A picture frame with photos of all of my pets:

She gave it to me so that they will always be with me in college. I must admit that she has such a gift for choosing/making meaningful gifts. I am very grateful for it!

After doing the recording, we watched several episodes of Game of Thrones. We are in season 6, and it is @esouthern3's first time watching the show. However, I am catching a lot the second time through. It is one of those shows.

At 7pm, I left and drove home. I ate dinner with my parent. I had steak and lactose free mac and cheese. At 8pm, I had to go upstairs to participate in our first Call of Cthulhu session. Since I wanted to summarize it here anyway, I volunteered to do the summary for the sessions events:

Summary

Our characters start off together by chance in a search party together. A man named Lucas Stone's daughter was kidnapped by another man named Sidney Harris (who I have accidentally called Ed on numerous occasions). We all have our own reasons for joining the search. Some are there for the cash being offered: 25 dollars a day, and 10,000 dollars to whoever finds Stone's daughter. Some have other motivations. Mine is to find her because Stone is one of my friends from college, and his daughter is my God Daughter.

We started off by going to the gun store. We questioned the GM about why our characters would have brought guns without ammo, and managed to get ourselves some ammo for free. I also bought enough ammo so that I would have 50 rounds.

We then went to the Hardware store. Several people bought several things. I personally bought 50 feet of rope on the condition that the thief in our group would not rob me (as they had threatened to do).

@esouthern3 and I then requested to go to the library and newspaper store, and we looked up both Stone and Harris. We learned about a reservoir that Stone is building, as well as something about mining operation (I don't remember what). One theory I presented is that Stone is using the reservoir as a front for an illegal mining operation. We also learned that Harris does not have much of a history as a criminal.

It then came time to go into the woods to look for the daughter. There had been a shootout the night before, and we first went to that location. We ditched our escort, and found a set of tracks leading into the woods. We followed them, and eventually found two people - allegedly father and son hunting (I didn't by it). We asked them about the reservoir, and they said that all they know is that it is dangerous to go into the woods. They said that two of their friends went towards the reservoir two days ago, and still haven't returned. I pointed out to the group that they didn't seem too dismayed about losing two people, but the group decided to continue on.

Eventually, a bear attacked us. One of our group members shot at it, but failed, and accidentally wounded them self. The shot scared the bear off though. We decided to rest for the night so that that person could recover.

In the night, several people had nightmares which caused decreases in their sanity. I was not one of those people.

The next morning, we picked up the trail again, and followed it. It was not just footprints, but also blood. Using my skill as a doctor, I figured out that the blood was about a day old.

We eventually found an artist's dead body as well as a knife. The body had a stab wound.

We decided to continue following the footprints that left the scene. We eventually came to a road with tire tracks. The choice became between continuing to follow the footprints, or following the tire tracks. We decided that the tire tracks would stay longer, and continued to follow the foot prints.

Eventually we came to a clearing where we found several paintings. The group members who had nightmares were shocked to find that the paintings depicted each of their nightmares. We then came under fire from a sniper (whose scope created a glint that we spotted). We all took cover (except for one of us who almost got himself killed antagonizing the sniper).

Eventually, I attempted to return fire despite being out of range. I had a successful roll, and injured his shoulder so that he could no longer shoot. We approached him and realized he had a crutch. We asked him what he knew, and he told us that he had thought we were some creatures that live in the forest and do not die when shot. He was associated with Sidney Harris, but said he did not care for Harris, and through @esouthern3's psychology roll, we learned that he was telling the truth about the creatures, but lying about not caring about Harris. He also told us about a cabin nearby that Harris owns.

We decided to show him the paintings, and he feinted as a result. We decided to spend the night in the clearing. In the middle of the night, I had a nightmare that cost me one sanity. We were awoken by a strange blue light coming from nearby, and then saw another search party that was on their way out of the forest. We convinced them to stay with us for the night.

That is where we ended. Here is a picture I got of some of the stuff:

After that session was over, @esouthern3 and I talked for a while over the phone! We eventually went to bed. Thanks for reading this!

Thank you for taking part in The Diary Game on Steem.

The role play game looks fun - is it based on a book?

Keep following @steemitblog for the latest updates.

The Steemit Team

Thanks! I think it's based on the works of HP Lovecraft.

@cmp2020, Hello, I chose you as my post from the European continent on Monday call @steemingcurators.

Thank you! I am flattered. I will say that I am from the United States of America, but I am glad to have won in Europe!
