Will English survive as 'popular language'?

According to the World Economic Forum, approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide speak this language. But it's the first language of less than 40 million people.

According to a study published by Cambridge University Press, there are at least 35 million (350 million) people who have at least some knowledge in English. And there are at least ten million (100 million) in India in India.
