Although the American concept of Thanksgiving developed in the colonies of New England, its roots can be mostly traced back to the other side of the Atlantic. Both, the Separatists who came over on the Mayflower and also the Puritans who arrived soon after them, brought with them a tradition of providential holidays. Days of fasting during difficult or pivotal moments and days of feasting and celebration to thank God in times of plenty.
Traditions and holydays as an annual celebration of the harvest and its bounty, moreover, Thanksgiving falls under a category of festivals that spans cultures, continents and millennia. In ancient times, the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans feasted and paid tribute to their gods after the fall harvest. Thanksgiving also bears a resemblance to the ancient Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot.
Finally, historians have noted that Native Americans had a rich tradition of commemorating the fall harvest with feasting and merrymaking long before Europeans set foot on their shores.
In this modern age, for many Americans, the Thanksgiving meal in these 2019 festivities includes seasonal dishes such as roast turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.
Would you be able to endure a whole day today without internet or without the most minimal possibility of stay steeming while you are also happily stuffing your humanity with all those seasonal dishes mentioned above?

Or perhaps you are fasting or are under a rigorous diet this year in which you are going to be happy just by watching how everyone in your close near surroundings devours everything around you with gluttony but even so, you still feel encouraged because the next day you will get to buy that longed gadget to steem better and longer throughout...

This year, Black Friday is set to take place on November 29, 2019, which is... you guessed it! a Friday. This event always occurs on the Friday after the annual Thanksgiving dinner.
Meanwhile, shoppers interested in scoring digital deals via Cyber Monday can mark their calendars for the Monday after Thanksgiving. This year, it's December 2, 2019.
In any case... I have now the hunch that everything is gonna be ok these last five days until Cyber Monday. After all, cryptocurrency markets and altcoin tokens they all are slow and again giving signs of recovery.
A faint green dye seems shyly spilling all over CMC to paint your hopes and Christmas holidays greener. ¿Who Knows? everything is possible in the Twilight Zone!!
Perhaps the Koreans are plotting a little surprise again before the end of this year one more time. Or the Chinese, or the Russians or even also the Venezuelans. Maybe the early Mayflower Separatists, Puritans & Pilgrims who came here and landed on Steem to build DApps & whatnot also.

Therefore, after all this long informative and historical charade of mine to tell you something that easily would have required barely just ten words. Oh! yes of course. It's no wonder most of us in this accelerated society and modern age are accustomed to do a helluva amount of things without the most remote idea of why we are doing it or from when/where comes the tradition.
We have already been subjected to many years of brainless blind consumerism through an unstoppable brainwash attack without truce and from all sides. So, in terms of meaning and purpose there is no doubt most of the members of our current society, they must be more lost than Lindbergh's son. ;)
