Losing Face in thailand

in #thailand5 years ago

Although it does not happen that often, because many foreigners coming to Thailand are aware of the practices, keeping the face in public life in Thailand is more important than anything else. So if you have a problem or disagreement with someone, you should not shout that person in the street and start a fight, offend them, and make you "lose face" in public.

When foreigners become serious and angry, they often start quarreling with their Thai friends in public, instead of just smiling, calming down, and accepting that it's the way it is ("and sabai sabai just to stab him in the back two weeks later ", as a friend of mine once described it). That's another reason why Thais think we're a bit strange.

Then there are all these other small, cultural differences between Thai and Western society (inappropriate clothing, pointing fingers at people, touching their heads, walking over a reclining person, etc.) Who follow the picture of a sex tourist who shows affection in public, makes someone lose face in a quarrel and does not even bother to learn a bitThai language.

For the most part, the Thais only smile and accept that we are different from them, so we can have a great time in Thailand.
