Khon Kaen sets NEW WORLD RECORD with the longest human wave in the world

Thailand, or the northern province of Khon Kaen, has set a new world record for Songkran this year. The mayor of Khon Kaen, Mr. Theerasak Thekayupan, has teamed up with the authorities in the area to set up a huge crowd on Khao Niew Street or on the street.

The human wave began on Monday (15 April) at 19 o'clock. The goal of this huge crowd in the north of Thailand was to set a new world record with the longest human wave in the world.

The approximately 1.4-kilometer-long Khao Niew road was full of people along the entire route. The wave began at the intersection of Tiew Hong and the Khon Kaen City Gate. Mayor Theerasak personally gave the signal to start and then began the human wave. She went back and forth five times, scoring an overall 17.41-minute record. Thus she beat the previous world record for the longest human wave.

In 2015, Japan, the record holder for the longest wave of human activity, set a record 17.14 minutes at Hanshin Koshien Stadium.

As for the new record, the Thai representative for the "Guinness World Records" book, Mr. Somporn Naksuetrong, has officially confirmed the longest human wave. It will be published in the new Guinness World Records book, which is published each year.

Mayor Theerasak told people that he is grateful to everyone who participated in the successful world record. The record is released under the title "Thailand Human Wave", he added.

Khao Niew Road is one of the most popular places in northern Thailand for the exuberant celebrations and water splashes during the Songkran holidays. Locals and visitors from all over the world come here every year to join the extreme water wars on the famous road.
