I know multiple people that own small businesses in Thailand and they are all suffering badly right now. The worst part is that their investments are very unlikely to see any light anytime soon because the government was already working against them in that they have been attempting to change the kind of tourists that visit Thailand for many years. I worked in tourism in that country for 10 years and saw the gradual elimination of backpackers... Later, when i managed a mid range resort they went after that as well because we were a small operation. IT seems they are only interested in very high end tourism, which is a bit of a misnomer in Thailand because they have like 3 star resorts that they try to pass off as luxury even though they are far from it.
