I found the claim that Erdogan is only following orders from Putin to be a little unbelievable. I think Erdogan is his own man. He currently has an uneasy alliance with the Russians - pushed that way by the US attempts to oust him and the poor outcome of the war in Syria from Turkey's perspective. That Turkey is still a NATO member though presents complications.
