Smartphones are slowly ripping us apart

in #test8 years ago (edited)

Most people have smartphones but if you look into the homes of the modern family, there is hardly any talking. However people in 3rd world countries are much more social and there is more talking and laughter in the house , and this isn't even on special events. If I could change anything about the world it would be that.

i would've posted an image but because i am editing i cannot.

Would love to hear your opinions on the topice ;D

Less talking and more silent introspection is the way to go. STEEM will probably make smartphone usage even worse LOL. Everyone will be curating the new posts or trying to write a money-making post/reply on STEEM; just like I'm trying to do right now.

I have noticed a significant change in my own behaviour (both in how I work, socialise and learn) in the last few years - and this all came really into focus the last few months after spending 9 months working from home (on a laptop).

That I have been managing our commercial social media too, put me over the top.

While I think that the Internet, computers and even smart phones and social networks are great - we can't ignore that they change how we think and how we behave (just like books and the telegraph did before).

The question is; how to we get the most out of all of this, without losing to much. I am still thinking through all this, but just recognising that something is happening and making small corrective adjustments is already working for me.

I've been reading a great book on the topic (The Shallows, https://www.theguardian.com/books/2010/sep/11/shallows-internet-changing-way-think) - which I highly recommend for a bit of consciousness raising on the issue.

Let's deal with the issue - and try not to throw the baby out with the bath water.
