The Tesla and Hilton experience Part One
We have just returned from London, having experienced the mind blowing executive saloon the Tesla Model S, whilst reviewing this car we also checked into the Hilton T5 to see what perks travellers who drive the inspiring EV's get.
We arrived at Tesla, Heathrow to collect out P100D we had a look round and grabbed a bottle of water from the lounge, then we were shown how to operate the car in a Model S in the showroom, this included being taught how to operate the car and some features such as enabling driving modes, changing the screen layout etc.
The final checks with our brand new P100D, still locked to 85mph a dashing red with, black leather interior, the inside of the S rivals high end Mercedes, Audi and Range Rover to name a few.
Climbing into the car your presented with a 17" screen which is certainly the focal point of the car, this infotainment system controls everything - media, aircon even over the airwaves updates. The system also houses the various modes for alternating driving everything from regenerative braking to enabling ludicrous mode, you may also find some Easter eggs, Mario Kart or The Spy who Loved Me Lotus Esprit mode which enables air lifting and lowering.
The operation of the Model S is similar to an American auto, a stick on the steering wheel, down drive, up reverse and press the stick button for Park.
You hit the start button the first thing you'll notice is no sound, strange at first. The Model S is easy to get used to, one foot like an auto accelerator and brake, the power delivery is instant, combine that with All Wheel Drive and you get an extremely smooth driving experience, the torque is phenomenal and regulated the two motors the P100D is installed with.
This car can achieve 0-60 in 2.5 secs and delivers 610bhp.
It is a fantastic car but I still find it difficult to come to terms with the silence.
Yes it is, the silence will take years maybe decades for people to accept, don't let that put you off though.
