"Nearly all Teslas on the road are being recalled."

A number of people have been asking if my car is "affected by the recall".

Just to be clear... NHTSA changed the requirements so that you need to touch the steering wheel more often when in full self-driving mode (a mode that is optional on my car and I do not pay for).

Tesla is pushing a software update out over the internet to adjust to the new government standards. Tesla pushes out software updates all the time to continue improving the cars. We usually download them when parked overnight. I will receive this update, despite not using the feature.

The government calls this a recall instead of a mandatory software update.

Regardless of how anyone feels about Elon Musk, Teslas are incredibly safe and In 5 years we've never had any real issue with the Tesla in the last 5 months.
