Should you Pre-order Tesla's solar panels?

Tesla is best known for its electric cars. But the cars are just part of the company's vision to make the world a greener place.

The US company has just opened for orders of company roof tiles with built-in solar cells.

Solar Roof is the concept that will give households energy from the sun and make residents independent of the traditional power grid.

Gives power when the mains sway
In simplicity, the project is that conventional roof tiles should be replaced with energy-saving boilers made in tempered glass.

A Powerwall battery in the house stores the energy from the solar cells, enabling power even at night when the sky is cloudy or when power is interrupted on the mains.

Solar Roof is available in different designs. But so far the price is relatively high - the roof tiles have an expected price of approximately 230€ per square meter. Significantly more than the approximately 13€ per square meter that ordinary roof tiles cost.

In Tesla's price, however, is the removal of the old roof and installation of the new one.

Pre-order now
Tesla promises that their tiles are better than other roof tiles. The company is even so convinced of the sustainability of the roof tiles that they are sold with a lifetime guarantee in the United States.

Already, it is possible to pre-order your sunroof!, but it will probably take a while before it is delivered.

The plan is for Tesla's first Solar Roofs to be installed in the US this year and only in 2018 installations will start in Europe.
