The Boring Company, a challenge between two Tesla Model 3: one on surface roads, the other in an underground tunnel

The Boring Company, a company founded by Elon Musk and committed to developing its Hyperloop system, has released a curious video in which it competes in a short stretch of road with two Tesla Models 3: one on the surface in daily traffic and another in the underground test tunnel of the company.

Leaving aside the duration of the two routes, as we believe they do not reflect the same conditions, the shots made in the one-mile-long tunnel under Hawthorne near Los Angeles ' SpaceX headquarters remain interesting.

The Model 3 intended for the subsoil enters the tunnel via an elevator and receives the go-ahead by lighting that turns from red to green, reaching its destination at a maximum speed of 127 MPH, approximately 204 km / h.

Musk, in response to the Tweet with which he shared the video proposed here, states that the tunnel was driven by a car in Autopilot mode and not by a mechanical system called the "wheel guide / train platform," without specifying, however, whether the autonomous driving system can also manage the entry and departure independently and, even if it is negligible, whether the car on the surface was in autonomous position.
