An encounter has been on for over 24 hours between security forces and two terrorists hiding in a half-constructed building in Srinagar after a failed attempt to enter a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp.

A guard had spotted the terrorists with AK 47 rifles and ammunition bags at daybreak and opened fire, averting a major attack.
A CRPF soldier has died and a policeman was injured in the gun battle that began around 10 am on Monday, at the building near the CRPF camp in Srinagar's Karan Nagar.

Two days ago, heavily armed terrorists in fatigues barged into the Sunjuwan army base camp in Jammu and killed five soldiers and a civilian. At least 10 people, including soldiers, women and children, were injured as the terrorists attacked the residential quarters of junior commissioned officers, spraying bullets and hurling bombs.
