RE: September 11, 2001

A friend messaged me to turn on the TV after the first plane hit. I watched the second one hit live.
Surreal. I was doing security work at the time, watching TV in the back/maintenance area of a shopping centre/mall.
It was around 11pm here, and I kept the radio on all night. Knocked off 8 hours later, and got a call from the boss, that a primary/elementary school had suffered an arson attack overnight.
They wanted a security guard to go and just be a uniform around the place, to re-assure parents, teachers and students.
These poor little kids though. Most of their parents were asleep when it happened, and no doubt showed little discernment in what was shown on TV or on the radio in the morning.
The kids pull in to school and their classrooms are torched and all their work destroyed.

Sort:

We had no TVs at work-- and poor/sporadic TV coverage in that area anyway. Even at home I had to have cable or I only got one channel, and it didn't come in well. That was also before I was online.

I'm sure those kids were upset about their work being destroyed, but I have to admit, the school burning down was always my fantasy.
