2017 US Open Women’s Final Preview
Date: September 9, 2017 at 4 PM Eastern Time
Where: Flushing, New York, Arthur Ashe Stadium
Matchup: #15 Madison Keys (USA) Vs. Sloane Stephens (USA)
For the first time since 2002, the 2017 US Open Women’s Final will have an all-American final. 15 seed Madison Keys will face unseeded Sloane Stephens. Per the U.S. Opens Official website, the winner will receive $3.5 million, runner up will receive $1.75 million. Stephens, who was ranked 934th less than two months ago, now is ranked #83 in the world. Stephens keeps climbing up the rankings board, if she wins this final expect her to climb higher. Sloane on facing Keys, “She’s one of my closest friends on tour, it’s obviously going to be tough. It’s not easy playing a friend.” Keys, who reached the 2015 Australian open semifinals, will also be looking to win her first grand slam title. Stephens and Keys are both very young (Stephens 24; Keys, 22). This will be a fun/competitive women’s final; the future looks bright for women’s tennis.
