That must be a weird situation in one moment to be on board of "Decaff" in far future somewhere drifting on space only with AI as a friend and companion and in another moment on Earth during the WW on battle field. I believe Ethan was happy to see human being again and even if he is killed but there are people around him and it is more pleasant then to be and die alone. Wonderful story, enjoyed it very much :)
