COSBY IS FINALLY GOING TO JAIL, A CONUNDRUM

You guys, it’s happening. Bill Cosby, the paterfamilias of the hit sitcom, and the creepiest old man most of us have even heard of, has finally been convicted of sexual assault after years of telling jokes publicly about putting a “Spanish fly” in his dates drinks and admitting that he drugged women before he had sex with him.

Last year, he got off with a hung jury, and seemed vindicated against the allegations by dozens of women, that he had in fact, done nothing wrong. But in the same courthouse with the same judge, this time around, he was not so lucky. Convicted of several counts of assault, including “penetrating a woman while she’s unconscious,” this garbage monster is finally going to jail.

It’s the first major case (and conviction) in the #metoo era, but a question I wanted to pose to the boards was this: How do we view his body of work? The Cosby show was hilarious, not just because we believed him to be a standup guy. And his decades of standup work (again, barring the fucking EGREGIOUS Spanish fly jokes) are hilarious, and award winning. But can we still enjoy them? Are you allowed to laugh at his jokes?

Or should we just let him fade away, while he rots in prison, and try to forget that we ever loved him? He’s a sexual deviant and a criminal (officially now), so should he cease to exist in our hearts and funny bones?
