Stupid Main Characters in TV & Movies
I've been binge watching Beyond Season 1 and I can't help but wonder why I have to watch yet another stupid story line where the main character is a bonehead with their head stuck so far up their rear they couldn't even see the sun shining on them.
Beyond is a great show but sheesh!
For once I'd like to watch a successful show where we know the Main character and supporting characters know what they have, what they are, and other than having us go through backstory every now and then, they just get on with show and have us be engaged while these characters accomplish the task at hand.
I also wouldn't mind the cliffhanger every other episode or two. We don't need to keep tidying up all the new loose ends during the current show. This is not an issue with Beyond, just the stupid character progression.
Another show with deplorable character progression
MARVEL'S INHUMANS
This show had great promise. While I do understand that Blackbolt is not suppose to talk. That definitely hurt the character. But what really hurt the show was immediately taking us through the setup story for each of the characters during the first season. It simply made the show unwatchable. ABC has saved us and canceled the show. Stan Lee probably had his own head in a darkened void in his own darkside on that one.
A Show that is getting Right
DC'S BLACK LIGHTNING
I was SHOCKED!!! When the show felt it was going to drag on and go in to episode two just to get us up to speed, with one masterfully delivered moment, the writers brought us up to speed in the last 10 minutes of the first episode. Now I don't have to deal with the Main character toying over whether he should or shouldn't use his powers etc. And he's got the thumbs up from the one person that could potentially derail him.
I am anxiously awaiting episode 2 to see if they don't back pedal on this.

MARVEL'S - THE GIFTED
Character progression is fast, backstories are kept minimal, story line is a bit more than fair. But there are spots in Season 1 where it drags butt and you want it to get over already.
Really enjoyed the last 2 episodes. And definitely looking forward to Season 3.
