Telegram Prepare Bitcoin Competitors
The era of virtual currency is being discussed in various parts of the world, although not all countries directly adopt it. Bitcoin, Ethereum, to Ripple are a few examples of the cryptocurrency. This time, Telegram will reportedly plunge into the business.
This instant messaging app is reportedly preparing their own version of virtual currency. Telegram Open Network (TON) is a name that is rumored to be carried by Telegram as a competitor Bitcoin.
Based on the news Mashable quoted by detikINET, Friday (12/1/2018) before presenting TON, Telegram plans to open Initial Coin Offering (ICO). Telegram targeted to raise funds up to USD 600-700 million.
In fact, the company led by Pavel Durov is reportedly also held pre-ICO, where Telegram targeting USD 500-600 million. So in total when combined, Telegram can raise funds at least USD 1.2 billion.
If achieved, it will make Telegram one of the largest ICO today. Previously, ICO took most of the notice on Tezos earning USD 232 million in July 2017 and FileCoin which collected USD 257 million in September 2017.
Telegram plans TON can be used as a means of payment in other applications that are integrated with his application.
Toward the 2018 new year, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov implies that this January, it will announce something big. It was delivered on his channel in Telegram.
