@good-karma I believe that presently users are actually split between Discord Telegram and Slack for group communication. If Steem were to come up with a platform for group chats, I'd rather switch to it because I really don't even use Telegram apart from tracking ICO messages and think it's of limited functionality (Discord is too messy though Slack is ok) while I do use Steemit on a regular basis.
