Rocket League's Rocket Pass Gets a Release Date

Rocket League's limited-time progression system, Rocket Pass, will go live on Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. PDT and run through Nov. 26, developer Psyonix announced today. Rocket Pass will be available on all platforms (PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC).

With both free and premium versions, Rocket Pass challenges players to increase their tier to earn new unlocks by completing matches. The Premium Rocket Pass costs 10 keys ($9.99 USD, £7.99 GBP, or $13.45 AUD) and includes up to 70 tiers' worth of rewards, more than double the free version's 29. Premium players can also continue advancing past the 70th tier to unlock painted and certified versions of some Rocket Pass items. All items are cosmetic-only.

Players can also spend keys to reach the next tier quicker as opposed to grinding out experience points through play.

Psyonix is calling this Rocket Pass 1 and has announced that another limited-time run will follow. When the first season ends, players will keep all their rewards except for experience points multipliers, and all players will return to Tier 1 at the start of the second season.

The first season won't include any sort of gameplay challenges, but Psyonix says it's "considering safe ways to give players specific goals" in future seasons.

Rocket Pass' first details were revealed in June, and Psyonix made major changes to Rocket League's progression system earlier this week.
