On November 21, 1990, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) console was launched in Japan, accompanied by the game Super Mario World. The design of this console was unusual for the time: its processor was not very powerful but it had powerful own chips for the processing of sound and video, called support chips.

One of the key factors for the success of sales of this console, was that it was accompanied by the game Super Mario World, which was a critical and commercial success, with a sale of more than 20 million copies worldwide.

It was discontinued in 1999, but as we all know, many years later it was relaunched virtually on the Wii console.
