Kazakhstan is turning to green energy

in #technotec5 years ago

According to the results of the first half of 2018, generation of Kazakhstan’s renewable energy increased by 23.1 percent. The main increase occurred in small HPPs, wind turbines and helioparks.

Kazakhstan’s energy field is constantly developing. In comparison with the previous year, the total generation volume of the republic increased by 4 percent and amounted to 107 billion KWh. At the same time, the country’s energy is rapidly turning “green”. To date, there are 65 generation facilities using renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan, including 33 hydroelectric power stations, 19 helioparks, 17 wind farms and one biogas plant.

According to the results of the first half of 2018, the total generation of renewable energy in Kazakhstan is about 630 million kWh, which is on 120 million kWh more than in the same period of 2017 (an increase by more than 23 percent). The largest contribution to the overall result was made by small hydroelectric power plants, which generated about 374 million kWh of energy, the second is largest wind power plant (200 million kWh), the third is helioparks (56 million kWh). As a result, in 2018, the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy balance for the first time in history exceeded 1 percent and amounted to 1.2 percent.

The results of 2019 promise to be more impressive. The fact is that in the middle of 2019, one of the largest helioparks in Central Asia, located in the Karaganda region “SES Saran” will start complete operation. Its planned capacity is 100 million kWh, and the construction budget was 137 million US dollars. Half of these funds were provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the form of a loan. The construction of the Heliopark was performed by the company Solarnet Investment GmbH, affiliated with the German developer Goldbeck Solar.
