Why Linux and Mac do not need anti-virus programs Unlike Windows?

in #technology7 years ago

I often ask why Linux and Mac do not need anti-virus programs unlike Windows? Very good question. It is common to hear that Linux or Mac is one of the most protected systems to use anti-virus. While Windows is very necessary use a protection program even if you are an expert in protection. For the proliferation of security threats surrounding Microsoft systems, what is the reason?

Some people may think that it is related to the popularity of Windows. More popular systems are therefore more vulnerable to security threats than Windows, so you should use anti - virus. But believe me it 's far beyond that, since Windows has its reputation in the field of operating systems but Linux remains more popular when we talk about servers. Therefore, the difference is not as the majority believes it has to do with fame but the reason is attributed to several points:

System architecture: Linux architecture makes the latter protect itself from malware attacks. Getting the power of routines (routine is the highest power in Linux, and Windows when talking about system administrator) in the system is very difficult for malware and therefore can not To cause any real harm to the Linux operating system and this refers to the system of powers in the latter. Where the power settings are divided into three main sections:

First: User permissions itself (User permission)

Second: Group Permission

Third: Powers of other individuals who may or may not have direct access to the system (Everyone Else's Permisiion)

As a result also can be divided powers of files as I mentioned in the total of modern to three types are respectively:

1 - Read permission and symbolizes the letter r

2 - Write permission and the letter w

3 -Execute permission and the letter x

Thus, even if a virus is infected with the system, it remains subject to the authority of the system user. So if you remember in a previous post: beware of getting the powers of routine in your phones. I said that it is very dangerous to get the powers of routine in Android phones because it is built on Linux and in the event of any congestion of the virus and you have the powers of routine will be the end of the phone for a while.

How software evolves:

There is a very big difference between Windows and Linux in the way the software evolves. If the programs are different in Windows, it is by downloading EXE, MSI, and DMG files, which are adopted by using the files in Windows for each extension. Here viruses find their chance to cling to order because they are from unknown sources! Unlike Linux it is deliberately on a packet management system such as APT and YUM where the software download source is safe and reliable.

And, of course, because Mac does not have a lot of different structure on the Mac, the latter also remains safe and non-binding you to use an anti-virus program. So we've made it clear to you why you do not need to use anti-virus programs on Linux and Mac

Loved this post!

I have been a sole Linux user for 6 years and had my first taste of Linux back around 2006. I had the same thought that since market share for Linux was so low that it was not a big target for malware or viruses.

I never thought about the routines as you mentioned. This makes so much sense now that I've thought about it. Even if Linux for the desktop would surpass windows it will be a much more difficult task to get a virus or malware working well enough to make the effort worth the attackers time.

Thanks again <3 J. R.

yes , thank you so much and i love Your experience
