In this series on the Tech-agriculture, we will be diving deeper into Artificial intelligence, the internet of things, newly phased internet of food and big data, all inside agriculture. Imagine smart technologies being used for food transfer, cloning of animals, and your farm system controlled by a robot in real time. All these we will be discussing in this series. Before we move on, let's look at the meaning of agriculture.

What is Agriculture?

Is it all about chickens? No

Agriculture is the breeding of animals and the cultivation of land for food production, medicine and other use in order to help sustain human welfare. Daily, food is being produced all over the world in order to cut down starvation from developed and developing countries. However, people still die of starvation because the food that is being produced does not reach those in need of it.
Furthermore, one of the challenges of agriculture in years past is the production of sufficient, healthy and safe food for the masses. Various means and strategies have been taken into consideration and also have been implemented but the main goal of harmonizing agriculture in order to accomplish the desires of humans is still yet to be seen. Therefore, scientist, the futurist are making efforts to see that in ten to thirty years to come, when the population that is increasing every second has reached a stage whereby excess production of food, for the sustainability of the upcoming generation, is needed, then there won’t be a problem with the production of food for consumption globally. we are analyzing emerging technology in the area of agriculture that will bring safety and security to growing plants and also in the production of food that will satisfy humans and will decrease the labor inputted in the production of foods and the breeding of animals.
You may ask if a plant needs security...yes they do.

Future of Technologies in Agriculture

As the world advances, the introduction of the internet of things, Big Data and artificial intelligence comes into play. These technologies are trending in order to make the world a smart place for living. Smart technologies are being produced and new ideas are generated so that the challenges in agriculture will be solved.
Think of a Smart world having a smart technology where a farmer doesn’t have to get much involved in his/her farming environment. With the invent of artificial intelligence and the internet of things which is being centered on big data and robots that are capable to handle themselves irrespective of the situation that might arise within the farmland. Because they are connected to a cloud-based technology in real time. This robot will be in charge of a particular farmland. Its purpose is to make sure that the plants are growing properly, that it can sense a disease in a plant and automatically send a message to the farmer in real time to find the solution of a disease and all that is required to get that particular plant in its normal state.
Additionally, this robot can detect if a particular plant if it actually lacks nutrient in it and automatically gives its required nutrient. Also, the making of this specific robot does not only maintain the farmland but also analyze every bit and inch of the farmland and sends detailed report to the farmer.

Internet Of Food

Another technology we will be looking into in this series is the Internet of food (IOF). Gotten from The Evolution of The Internet Of Things (IoT). This area of agriculture aims at integrating internet of things in agriculture whereby building a data-driven, virtual food chains, and personalized nutrition. With the application of IOF, digital communication through channels within all equipment of agriculture will be implemented as well as the processing of digital networking.

Another is the advent of technology in the future that can be able to change the climate of a particular farmland. The view of artificial intelligence in agriculture for the future will yield a lot in terms of plant production. This achievement in agriculture will stop the usage of pesticide when growing plants in various locations.

Also, the aim of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector not only centers on the plant alone but to adopt a certain geographical area into an area whereby plants that cannot grow in a geographical area or country can as well grow there through the use of artificial intelligence. Thereby, making it possible for countries to grow various kinds of plants that were not able to grow in that geographical area.
This technology can be able to gather the information regarding the climate condition of a foreign country to create the exact replication of that climate in another country. After collection of data, seeds and various kinds of fruit can be planted in that farmland. With this invent, importation of foods will be reduced and also various foods can be produced for the sustainability of the country.
Additionally, as data is growing large every day, a question we should all ponder about is this; in future, can an orange be broken into packets and then sent through a device to a person that is in another country. And when it arrives, it assembles itself back to its original state without the removal of any nutrients, rather when this device breaks this orange into packets and discovers that some nutrients are missing, and will add more nutrients to make it tasty?
