I-wrap is a food-grade plastic bag created by a Japanese company Iwatani Materials that has the ability to withstand temperatures in excess of 120 °C allowing one to cook food with it. Recently I-wrap is being used all over Japan for food preparation during disaster situations like floods, earthquakes etc. The reason I-wrap is so perfect for disaster management scenarios is because these bags allow for boiling foods in them which in turn leads to water reuse and makes limited precious potable water stocks last longer during emergency situations.

Interesting how they are going to avoid chemicals from plastic, especially at such high temperatures. Its not advisable to heat food in plastic bags or even hold hot food in plastics, and this is cooking.

I believe these are food-grade plastic bags and so no chemicals will leech into the foods.
