The problem is not technology. The problem is technology in the hands of hairless apes known as humans.
That was the original concept behind the Planet of the Apes series. A bunch if apes with high tech. But they found they didn't have the budget for that so they changed it to the more primitive culture.
If you see the cartoon version that ran in the 80's, they went back to the original concept of apes with high tech.
