See how the robo-dog Spot takes part in police actions in New York
Police test a four-legged robot during raids on gangster hideouts in various boroughs of New York.
The officers are very pleased with the robot's work.
Thanks to it, the actions can run not only more efficiently, but it turns out that they have a huge impact on increasing the safety of both policemen and criminals. Until now, raids usually end up with victims on the side of gangsters.
Spot's involvement in the interventions resulted in the arrests of gangsters without any bloodshed on either side.
In most cases, criminals go dumb when dealing with a robot and give up much faster, fearing that they have no chance with it. While Spot is bravely supporting law enforcement in New York and fighting criminals, city residents are not thrilled with it, and
even the majority are concerned about their safety.
People believe that a robot can accidentally harm them.
Interestingly, there are people who think Spot has been equipped with a weapon that it can use in case of an emergency, but New York City police officials say they are not going to equip the robot with sharp weapons for now.
Currently, the machine is only tested during dangerous interventions, and the operators have constant control over it.
Either way, Bill de Blasio, the mayor of New York City, said he hears residents' concerns and intends to meet the chief of police to discuss the ethical and moral issue of further testing the robot.
