What is the Ransomware Petya ?
The ransomware has been spotted in many locations and (as with WannaCry) when a computer is locked, a $300 worth bitcoin fee must be paid to restore the system. The Bitcoin wallet to store the ransom has received a sum of $7200 have been collected at the time of writing this Blog. The email client Posteo, where the accounts of bitcoin payment are hosted , has disabled the address in the ransom note. Which means those who want to pay the ransom, can't.
Ransomware under the name of Petya was first spotted in 2016, Symantec says the version of this Global Attack has been modified and can be spread with the help of worm.
How can Petya Destroy your Computer ?
According to a new Research the creators of Petya Virus had no Intentions to restore the affected computers and so this Bug is designed in such a way that it will ERASE the Computer in a single Step and will then ask for a Ransom, even if you pay the Ransom your Computer would not be restored.
Places where this Virus is Active
As of writing this Blog the virus has mainly targeted Ukraine and has destroyed several infrastructure like Electricity supplier, Central Bank Airport ETC.

Yes . I've mentioned this in my post that if the virus attacks your computer the first thing that it will do is Erase all the files from the computer and then show you a Ransom note your screen telling you to pay $300 worth Bitcoin and when you pay nothing happens

Update: On June 27th, this virus affected a number of companies. And although, they are targeting heavy infrastructure and key important buildings, then why using a very simple method to ask for money and that too is not off that much value. These viruses are targeted and only time can tell what was the outcome of this.
