The Controversial Notch on the iPhone X
The new iPhone X (pronounced iPhone Ten) has created quite a bit of controversy on the black notch at the top center of the phone. For $1000, is it worth it?
My opinion on this subject - yes.
The notch could easily be seen as Apple being too lazy and not perfecting the design of the iPhone X, however, the bar is something that distinguishes Apple’s design from all the others.
Take the Samsung Galaxy S8, for example. It may not have a notch, but it takes potential screen space from the bezel. (Not to mention the chin at the bottom of the screen)
If anything, the Essential Phone is more respectable than the Galaxy. Apple and Essential both took a big risk by putting a notch on the top of the phone.
It just works
The last point I’d like to make is how the notch on the iPhone X perfectly fits in the status bar at the top of the phone. The notch was not a big problem for Apple considering all of their past phones mainly had content at the left and right of the bar. (wifi connection, cellular status, battery life, etc.)
Now please, don't hate be because I like the iPhone line over the Galaxy. They created many things before the iPhone and has had time to perfect their technology. I like many things on the Galaxy line, however, Apple has taken the win on this one.
