There was a time in this country where our lighting needs were taken care of by the natural and organic miracle that is whale blubber.
Yet, big coal has all but destroyed the whaling industry, stealing the jobs of countless whalers. Sad times for our country.
Today this industry is nearly dead because of the Republicans’ socialist policies towards the coal industry and its hundreds of millions in subsidies, while killing off the tried and true whaling industry.
3 Steps to bring back the whaling industry
- Overturn the IWC’s ban of whaling
- Stop the $500,000,000 in subsidies for the coal industry, to regain the whaling numbers to the 1850 levels of 50,000 whales annually.
- Encourage the fashion industry to utilize whale skin for boots, furniture and other commercial goods.
By rejuvenating the whaling industry, many other connected industries will flourish, including the boat making industry, steel industry (whale hooks), rope industry, and port communities as a whole.
