Google and Apple compete for enhanced reality technology

in #technology9 years ago

Google revealed on Wednesday tools for the production of enhanced reality applications for mobile phones running Android, sparking the latest confrontation with Apple manufactured for iPhone phones, in terms of the characteristics of the next generation of smart phones.

The enhanced reality technology on mobile phones, through which virtual objects are projected into the real environment, gained widespread popularity with the launch of the famous Pokemon Go game in the United States in July last year.

Google will offer the technology for the first time on the Samsung Galaxy S8 phone and Google's pixel phone.

The company said on its blog that it hopes the ARC system will reach at least 100 million users, without setting a date for a large-scale launch.

In June, Apple announced a similar system called A.Arquette, which it plans to launch next fall on "hundreds of millions" of devices.

Google and Apple are starting a race to win the attention of customers as well as software developers who will have to design games, tutorials and other applications that consolidate the use of enhanced reality technology.
