Artificial Intelligence crawls to occupy our jobs

in #technology7 years ago

Artificial intelligence develops at an astonishing speed, so that it is feared that the machine will replace man in various functions. Although creativity will remain the mental queen of human beings, it is a gift that artificial intelligence will defeat in the long term.

What is this artificial intelligence that will change our working life forever?
It is known as the intelligence shown by machines and programs to mimic human mental abilities and modes of action, such as the ability to learn, infer and react to situations that have not been programmed into the machine, and the name of an academic field on how to make computers and programs capable of intelligent behavior.

In short, it is "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines" as defined by John McCarthy, who put the term in 1955.

What are the careers of the future? Does one ever need a job, or are there alternative ways to get sources of income?
Max Tegmark, a professor of physics and artificial intelligence research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is trying to answer these questions, starting with a report entitled "21 careers of the future" prepared by the US multinational Kognizant.

Kognizant's report says the lost jobs will be replaced by another. "It will create wholesale jobs for many people in offices, shops and factories, jobs that have been removed or disabled by technology," says the report.

But Tigmark warns - in his article in the British newspaper The Times - of the belief that these professions will provide wholesale jobs.
Most jobs today are the same as a century ago, such as managers, retailers, teachers and nurses. Then we have a new career in software developers, who so far represent less than 1% of the US labor market.

So what happened to all those farmers and factory workers removed by tractors and other machinery? Most of them did the right thing. They went on educating themselves and replaced low-paying jobs that required muscle strain with those that generated higher incomes and were based on the realization of the mind.

But it is different now. The machine is no longer replacing our muscles but our minds as well, and many people will have to take on new jobs with less material returns.

If a job such as the Quantum Learning Technology Analyzer will be available to a small group of people, especially for PhD holders in physics, what professional advice should we give to our children?

The writer replies that he will urge his children to turn to occupations that the machine is not currently improving, in other words, the professions that the machine does not seem likely to carry out in the near future.

Better investment
Jobs that require repetitive work or orderly work in a predictable environment are not expected to withstand the machine long. Computer hardware and robotics have already made the most of these functions long ago. Improved technology is shifting more, from phone vendors to cashiers, train drivers, bakeries and chefs, and not ending with truck, bus and taxi drivers.

There are more professions that have started the machines and are no longer needed by many people, such as bar assistants, credit analysts, loan officers, account clerks, and taxpayers.

However, escape from automation does not mean that the danger is completely eliminated. One would like to be a professional writer, producer, actor, mathematician or fashion designer in this global digital age. The reason is that even though those working in these professions will not face serious competition from the machine anytime soon, the fierce competition will come from humans like them around the globe. Only a few will experience the hoped-for success that the market will only have a few The bright stars.

There are professions that will not be completely out of existence, but many of their tasks will be for the machine. It is less about artificial intelligence to replace man, while more people are working with artificial intelligence to act as other people who have not been able to work with him.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly improving now, and the list of things the machine can not do now is shrinking.

To ensure a sustainable and happy future for all of us, the best investment governments can make is to allow economists, psychologists, educators and others to research and study how a low-employment society can thrive.
