First successful experience of the Flying Taxi "Vahana"

Airbus announced Friday that it successfully conducted its first pilot test on a self-guided Vahana, a move that would pave the way for a revolutionary change in transport.

The company said on the vahana project site, that the experiment was conducted in the state of Oregon on January 31 last as planned.

The taxi, nicknamed "Alpha One", flew at a height of 5 meters before it landed safely.

The first flight lasted only 53 seconds and the plane was self-contained, she said, noting that the next day saw a successful and similar experience, in the presence of representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The company said in the past that its goal of this project is to find a way to help people to move quickly and avoid traffic jams.

She pointed out that the experiment came after two years of construction and planning, noting that it will conduct further experiments and modifications on the plane.

The company expects to launch the new aircraft on the market in 2020.
