Googles new (TPU) promises "Deeper and cheaper learning"
Google has been aggregating and sharing deep learning tools for awhile now. For some Deep Learning applications, computation is the factor which limits a final trained neural network. If you are unfamiliar with Deep Learning, its a massively parallel affair. You have alot of simple numerical processes often designed to shift data so that patterns emerge. The patterns are all seperately tested for and recorded into different "neurons" within a given layer of the neural network. Each time a neural network processes once through all of it's layers this is called an iteration.
This is where the Tensor Processing Unit comes in... of course Google is upping their game : specially architected to work with open source Python based Tensorflow. The TPU has been a shadowy rumor up until quite recently but I am very excited to see home based deep learning. Also Google recently unveiled a neural network designed to help architect a specific machine learning problem. Meaning an AI that helps test, and determine suitable architecture for a neural network. And this is before the deep learning takes place so it can save time, electricity and $$$$
*A trained neural network can train itself through MILLIONS and millions of iterations* meaning... we dont have any team of computer science and staticians who could really go through its process line by line. Alot of the calculation is virtually geometric and each form of process reveals specific patterns or their absence.
Moral of the story for big money peoples? Whales? Get ready to buy / invest in machine learning, deep learning ... theres a couple competitors- like graphcore:

I am pretty sure I an render some nifty special effects and smart scripts with some "deeper cheaper" learning. Also my graphics can be 4k or mazelike and deep but I will need something to crunch all those convolutions. MUAH
