The addiction of mobile phones is increasing day by day. Bangladesh is no exception. According to BTRC, the number of mobile phone subscribers in the country was approximately 13 million in February this year. Among them, the number of mobile internet users was around 631 million, more than 1 million more than in January. The popularity of mobile phones across the whole world is increasing day by day. According to a survey of mobile operators' organization GSMA, the number of mobile users will cross 5 billion or 500 million by the end of this year.

With the increase in popularity of mobile phones, technology in this sector is getting better. In the last 40 years mobile technology has exceeded 4 generation. 4G or fourth generation mobile technology is going on in different countries of the world and work is going on for the development of 5G technologies. 3G launched in Bangladesh since August 2012 The government and the BTRC are working to bring the fourth Generation or 4G technology in Bangladesh as soon as possible to keep pace with other countries. Prime Minister's Information and Technology Advisor Sajib Wazed Joy in a meeting with the BTRC urged the country to introduce 4G as soon as possible. Within this year, many mobile operators in the country are expected to be able to offer 4G services.

Though people are curious about 3G and 4G, many people do not know what it means to say 4G. How 3G and 4G technologies differ and how 4G technologies will open up new possibilities for us.

To be a 3G technology, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has to comply with the rules of International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000). In addition to talking through mobile technology, wireless internet access, video calls and mobile TVs can be enjoyed. The 3G data transfer speed on Thriji Internet is expected to be at least 144 kilobits per second and this speed can be up to a maximum of several megabits per second.

As of 2009, it is seen that 3G internet is not enough for bandwidth-intensive applications like Streaming Media. Naturally, different industries continue to work for the next step or FourG technology.
