Would you upgrade yourself ?

As technology advances, artificial intelligence and cybernetics could leave humans behind due to their superior thinking capabilities and countless abilities.

Would you therefore take a technological upgrade in order to stay on a level playing field?

Bionic Vision

Image from https://futurism.com/bionic-eyes-are-coming-and-theyd-make-us-superhuman

A company called Ocumetics Technology are developing bionic lenses that would give the wearer eyesight better than 20/20 vision. These custom made lenses could be fitted in as little as 8 minutes and the procedure is pretty similar to that of cataract surgery.

Imagine going in with poor vision and coming out 8 minutes later with super enhanced eyesight.

People have been integrating with technology for years. From hearing aids to pace makers. Is this mix of technology and the human body the next evolutionary step? Would humans in the distant future be unrecognisable from today?

Supersensitive Electronic Skin

Stanford scientists have developed a self powered skin which contains an array of elastic solar cells. The skin is made of a material that is incredibly flexible, durable and sensitive. It is composed of organic transistors and layers of elastic. Which allows the skin to stretch without breaking.

Exoskeletons

As seen in movies such as Elysium and The Edge of Tomorrow exoskeletons are a piece of technology used to enhance a humans ability, such as greater streghth. This may seem like science fiction but it is already a reality as we speak.

The Perceptual Robotics Laboratory (Percro), have already developed such a device called the Body Extender,

With it you would be capable of lifting 50kg in each hand and be able to exert 10 times the force you are applying to an object.

A Japanese company called Cyberdyne (didn't they make the Terminator?) has developed a hybrid assistive limb system. Which is a range of machines designed for the purpose of rescue and recovery. It is also intended to be used in the workplace to assists with taking the load of a users back.

This technology would be life changing for people who have trouble walking by themselves or who have very poor vision and I can understand the desire to adopt this technology, but would you "upgrade" when you didn't need to? Just to stay ahead of the machines or other humans who are upgrading.

I think it's only a matter of time before cybernetics become common. I would say give it another 50 years. I saw this implant a couple of months back. It's called North Sense. You have it pierced to you chest, and it's suppose to vibrate (something to those affects) every time you face north. Its a very simple concept, but it adds so much depth and meaning to ones life. This is just the beginning of a lot of other cool wearable/implantable technology that will enhance human existence.

Like you say, as simple as this is the future possibilities are endless. Is that available now or a future possibility?

Resteemed and upvoted - very interesting post.
I think I actually would upgrade myself!

Much appreciated. There will probably become a point in the future were not upgrading wouldn't really be an option. Followed you

yeah for a start i would have a metal pancreas, ta

I was reading an article just the other day titled "Artificial pancreas could soon be ready for diabetics".

It's such a great thing that technology can be used to better peoples lives. Thanks for the comment.

and thankyou for the info , lets steam on

technology is best when it can make one's quality of life better. I am super excited about our future and the pace at which we are evolving. Hopefully, future generations do not have to go through the stuff our past generations went through!

Yes I agree. The future looks like it is going to be able to help a lot of people.

Innovative, interesting and specific post, I believe that we are already in the future, all this technology is already being tested and fully agree, all those that increase improvements for civilization is welcome for the best possible use

Thanks for the comment. The future is looking positive as for a technology is concerned.

Looks like most people choose matrix (relating to you other post). I would fucking throw my brain to the garbage and stuff a bunch of i7s instead. Why is that too much? You know there's no way out if you get in it. A few trans-humanism fuckheads will have the right to mess mankind up.. slightly annoying...
