Sweet Update on Damaged Computer- Not All Things Are as They Seem.

in #technology6 years ago

For the first time in a while, we got some very good news.

After the installation of the new motherboard and lots of tuning, bending of bits, and tinkering..

The dream computer that was thought to be a complete loss is functioning and flashing all of it's pretty, soothing colors!

It is still in test fit formation with parts all over the place and installed in the best way that we could with the mangled case. It isn't running at optimum and it appears that the ram may need to be replaced. But as it stands, only one fan is refusing to turn. But considering that a lot of the pieces took a beating and a half from the airline, it appears to be fine despite it all.

The most surprising is that the SSHD is perfectly functional despite the fact that it showed signs of taking an impact that should have been impossible!

Games are running smoothly and the computer is staying nice and chilly! Which is a real relief because there was a lot of concern about the state of the cooler!

As it stands, the case that I've had for around 15 years, maybe more, has to be replaced. Truly, it is probably time and with all of the cool components, a new case might do it more justice.

Please feel free to suggest good brands and models if you have any! I always like to have extra input!

In other news, I recently visited the infamous "Krispy Kreme".

I was informed that this is better than in store purchase. I questioned it simply because we had to drive for an eternity to reach one of the few available locations.

I was informed that I could select any sweet bread ring that I desired. The options were seemingly endless and choosing was a daunting task.

In the end, we settled on blueberry, plain, oreo, peanut butter, and a single custard filled.

The mind boggling bit was that they were still warm from being cooked! These were the freshest donuts I had ever had. Also, the sweetest.

@Stitchybitch picked me up a bag of Krispy Kreme jelly beans with the thought that if I found them too sweet and gluggy, that I would enjoy the jelly bean flavors more. Because I always love jelly beans. The logic was sound.

She was correct.

At the end of the day, I have a functioning computer and donuts. All in all, this week is a win. I hope you, reading this, find fortune and good news.

Or at least a donut at the end of it all.

and here's me eating fkn ramen for near on a month now.

cool story bro

Cool Beans :)

Not sure if Antech still makes cases, but I have a few of them from around 10 years ago and they used to be a high quality manufacturer. The cheaper the case, the more likely there will be sharp metal edges, slightly off-center holes drilled and possibly inconvenient layouts. Good luck with whatever you purchase.

Though I don't eat them very often, I do find the Krispy Kreme manufacturing process to be a cool thing to watch. Some of the locations have a viewing area, where you can watch the dough being raised and fried by automated machinery. Pretty neat. :)

Glad you had fun. :D

Solid State Drives are ram, they don't suffer from physical shock at all, zero moving parts.

They are more resilient to g forces, but not immune unfortunately.
